Life can be really boring, and Tyrone Crawford has learned to live with that. Then he unwittingly pulls his friends into a life-and-death fight to protect history and keep the more dangerous pieces of it from falling into the hands of cunning terrorists who hold his uncle hostage. Secrets are kept for the safety of others, but when the mysteries of a centuries gone inventor come to light, the three boys are caught up in a whirlwind race to avert global disaster. Evil teachers? Piece of cake. Cunning terrorist trying to steal an ancient superweapon? No problem. Best friend Zack found a box of matches? Evacuate to Canada.

Tyrone Crawford seeks adventure wherever he can find it, as any fourteen year old from a sedentary town would. But when he is kidnapped on vacation by a group of apparent terrorist in Washington DC, who have no qualms about blowing up buildings in the middle of the Nation’s capital, Ty finds out that there is a reason adventures are reserved for the strong and stout of heart. Forgetting the entire thing sometimes seems much safer, especially when your family is threatened.

After a short imprisonment, Tyrone escapes with his two friends who were captured with him. His uncle isn’t so lucky, and continues to be imprisoned by these terrorists. They have little time to congratulate themselves and crack some sarcastic puns before they run straight into the organization dedicated to stopping these madmen. The Artifact Recovery Corps (ARC). Tyrone is desperate to enlist their help to rescue his uncle, but this organization has bigger problems than a few kidnappings on their hands. Terrorists after a centuries old superweapon half a world away kind of rank high up on the list of priorities, unfortunately for Tyrone.

In order to save his uncle, and maybe the world, Tyrone allies himself with ARC, and is thrown all around the globe trying to keep his friends safe, along with the secrets weapons of Nikola Tesla. After a desperate hunt that takes them across the Atlantic, the head director of ARC hands himself over to the terrorists, in order to save Tyrone’s uncle in the London sewers. Feeling responsible for this, Tyrone continues to pursue the kidnappers with the help of allies from ARC, and his ever loyal friends. Their journey comes near to its end once they reach a mysterious cave in the Croatian mountains, a cave that contains the ultimate prize for the kidnappers, and perhaps the doom for Tyrone and his friends.
